Congratulations to Justin Morin, our November 2022 member of the month! Justin is a loyal member of our evening classes, previously CrossFit, and now Powerlifting. Justin loves spending time outdoors and stand-up comedy. Keep reading to learn more about him!

- What are your hobbies/interest/talents outside of the gym?
- I really love doing anything outdoors like golf, the beach, BBQ, traveling and skiing. I also really enjoy spending time with family and friends. I’m a huge fan of standup comedy too.
- Share with us one thing that most people do NOT know about you?
- Back when my sister was member at Viking Athletics, she would consistently attend the 845am classes. I would attend classes in the evening, and she would let me know what the trivia question of the day was. I had a really nice run at controlling the music. I was smart about it too. I wouldn’t give the exact answer every time, I’d typically be off by +/- 1 to avoid suspicion. I would also like to take this time to apologize to the members who were there on Thanksgiving a few years back when I chose Christmas music for “Fight Gone Bad”.
- How long have you been with us at Viking Athletics?
- I started in 2012, time flies.
- Take us back to your first week here. How did you feel? Remember the workout?
- It was a 21-15-9 with thrusters, push press, and calorie ski. I remember not understanding the concept of the rep scheme at all and using a 35lb bar. At the end I saw Jesus and it was glorious. I’ve been hooked to that feeling ever since. After starting the powerlifting program here, I enjoy fighting the bar just as much.
- What moment/achievement are you most proud of at Viking Athletics?
- October 1st, 2014 – I did my first strict pull up ever in my entire life. I am also off to a great start with the powerlifting program hitting PRs in all 3 movements.
- Design your perfect workout?
- Since I started the powerlifting program, deadlift day is my favorite day and movement. CrossFit wise it would be a 20 minute AMRAP – 25 wallballs, 20 KB swings, 15 calories on the assault bike. Rest 5 minutes: THEN 15 minutes to establish a 1 rep clean.
- What is your least favorite movement?
- Anything that involves jumping. I hate jumping.
- Summarize your lifestyle in 5 words or less.
- Live, work hard, play harder.
- Have you experienced any changes in your lifestyle since joining Viking Athletics?
- Everything I do in life has become easier mentally and physically. Sometimes what we do in the gym is so difficult it makes the rest of my day a piece of cake.
- What advice do you have for anyone who is thinking about joining or who has recently joined?
- Be patient and disciplined because the results will come with time. The more work you put in the more you will get out of it at any fitness level.
