2022 Intramural Open – Final Update

It’s over, and we survived! Week 3 has come and gone, and with it, we saw A LOT of PRs! This workout was my favorite of the 3, from a programming perspective, at least (it SUCKED to perform). The workout:

For Time, with a 12 Minute Cap:
21 Pull-ups
42 Double Unders
21 Thrusters (95/65)
18 Chest to Bar Pull-ups
36 Double Unders
18 Thrusters (115/75)
15 Bar Muscle Ups
30 Double Unders
15 Thrusters (135/85)

While I expected to see a repeat workout, I’m happy with what HQ created. It had the classic CrossFit 21-15-9 rep scheme, a very “Fran”-ish feel, and a progression of increasingly difficult gymnastics movements and heavier weights. In CrossFit terms, these are “separators” that striate where competitors end up in the standings. Furthermore, with the addition of the foundations division, there were variations of this workout that everyone could perform. And, as our foundations athletes learned, that didn’t mean the workout was easy. Anyway, onto the results:

Congratulations to Rage Against the Machines, our 2022 CrossFit Relentless Intramural Open Champions! Going into week 3 they had a strong lead, and they eked out a week 3 point victory thanks to their strong showing of team spirit. They not only had the most participants this week (19, compared to 18 for Drop It Like It’s Squat and 13 for Snatch Me If You Can), but they had the most people show up in their team shirts. This week also saw many athletes hit pull-up, muscle-up, and heaviest weight PRs, which is EXACTLY why we participate in the Open. I’m thrilled with how our members performed, and next year will be even bigger and better. Before we move on to next year, here are the complete final standings:
