Week 1 of the Intramural Open is officially in the books, and all I can say is WOW, what a great turnout! We had tremendous energy from everyone in the gym, and a great showing for our first Friday Night Lights (pictures below, thanks Tim!). It usually takes a week to build momentum, with week 1 being rather timid, and everything ramping up from there. Needless to say, that was not the case this year, and I’m super proud of the showing we had!

Both Team Mario and Team Luigi had the same number of participants, which in years past has been a big deciding factor for the winning team. So, kudos to Coach Mo (and me, I suppose), for coming up with even teams on this front.

The score after week 1 is pretty tight, with Team Luigi up by 15 points. Both teams saw a PR, and Team Luigi had a little more earned in podium points. The big difference was a 10 point spirit bonus to Team Luigi who showed up in force to FNL. This week, both teams will have their t-shirts (you can pick yours up at the gym), and we’ll see who wins the spirit battle. Depending on the next 2 WODs, there will hopefully be multiple opportunities to PR as well.
